SEO Checklist for Learning Apps

For small teams behind language, maths, music, coding and kids’ learning apps.

Cover and a sample page of the SEO Checklist for Learning Apps by Mile SEO.

The problem

Almost everything your app teaches lives inside the app, where search engines can’t see it. The website is often one page with a few screenshots and a download button.

So when people search for what your app teaches, a review blog answers them instead of you.

This checklist turns that page into a real website, puts part of what the app teaches on the web, and treats the store listings and the website as one project.

What’s inside

  1. 01Foundations
  2. 02From download page to real website
  3. 03What your app teaches, on the web
  4. 04Win your niche
  5. 05App store listings
  6. 06Web-to-app links
  7. 07Parents, teachers and trust
  8. 08AI answers and “best app” lists

Three items, as they appear in the checklist

  • 02.1

Give each skill or level its own page

“Spanish for beginners”, “times tables practice”, “piano for adults”. Say what learners can do after it.

  • 03.1

Publish part of what the app teaches as web pages

Word lists, grammar rules, practice sums. Today a review blog answers these searches. Start with 20 good pages, not 2,000.

  • 05.1

Use one keyword list for the stores and the website

Done separately, the work is repeated and the two say different things. Agree the words once and use them in both.

Frequently asked questions

Which matters more for a learning app: SEO or app store optimisation?
You need both. Store search reaches people ready to download. Web search reaches people still looking for an answer, who often don’t know your app exists yet.
Can a small app team compete with the big apps in search?
Yes, on specific searches. Big apps chase broad terms. Searches about one exam, one instrument or one age group are often answered by small sites you can outrank.
Do people really search Google for learning apps?
Yes. Parents, teachers and adult learners often search for the skill first, such as “best reading app for kids”, and compare options before they open an app store.
